Speaker and teacher for private retreats and corporate settings. Creator of The Zen Protocol, a workshop program empowering individuals through the integration of cutting-edge science and ancient Eastern practices.
Born in New Orleans, dealt craps on a riverboat before earning an MBA and a law degree from Tulane University. International lawyer licencensed in California. Spearheaded the global marketing campaign for the luxury resort brand Kaiya. President of The Kaiya Foundation, a non-profit tasked with delivering arts education to underprivileged communities.
Lifelong meditator and student of yogic and Zen practices. Studied meditation at monasteries and ashrams in Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, and India.
Creative writing at the University of New Orleans, UCLA, and Esalen. Writings and photography have appeared in Vice, Maxim, Details and numerous other outlets. Optioned several screenplays. SciFi fan and co-host of the long-running science fiction podcast, Infinite Worlds..

After a few years, practitioners develop their own style, thus the term ‘art’. Only 1% of those who start earn the rank of black belt. These veterans are then tasked with transmitting their knowledge to new students.
BU-DO 武道 - (BU) ‘Martial’ (DO) ‘Way’ /// The Way or Path to self-actualization through combat training. In 500 CE, Bodhidharma traveled the trade routes from India to China, and in the Shaolin temple, he taught the monks combat techniques to meld with their esoteric mental practices, such as meditation and mindfulness. Peace and kindness through inner strength are BUDO.

This was one of many aha! moments I would experience, when I grasped that not only was the transformational journey rewarding, but above all else, it should be fun. During this first training session, I caught the bug, and not long after, I committed to learning the art to the best of my ability. Attending classes every day, watching videos at night, drilling incessantly, and even competing in tournaments to test my skills in the most stressful of situations.”
